Additional Comments:

Kazimierz Waliszewski (1849-1936) Franco-Polish writer and historian, published in French 16 books of history and biography mainly on Russian and Polish subjects. 'Ivan le Terrible' was translated into English by Lady Mary Lloyd (Heinemannn, 1904), but one can be certain from the context that Conrad was reading the French edition.
