Kazimierz Waliszewski (1849-1935) was a Polish historian living in Paris and with whom Cionrad corresponded in French and in Polish (see source text p.xxxix). Exact date of reading experience uncertain since Conrad may have received the periodical from Paris before the cited date of publication.
