This evening after dinner, I flitted from the splendour of the ?Grand? to the hospital-coldness of the little Hotel Cronstadt in the Quartier Convention. Wrote to Teddie and Mother. In bed I read a French translation of Well?s ?Invisible Men?. Which is about all the literature Muggridge possesses, and then went to sleep very willingly, being horribly homesick. I am so alone in this vast city.'
