And I had a soft spot for Harrison Ainsworth, who wrote historical novels about the plague, and the fire of London and so forth. I had a strong sense of the macabre. I loved Jane Eyre and Wuthering Heights which I read when I was 15/16 and I was very interested in books on medical discoveries, medical research and so on.' |
